ASSEMBLY & BAL SABHA GUIDELINE

1 AIM
To standardize guidelines on organizing weekly Assemblies/Bal Sabhas in Satya Bharti Schools (SBS) that are meant to enhance the overall skills of a student.
In order to encourage all round development in students, daily Assemblies and weekly Bal Sabha are to be organized, which provides the student an opportunity to interact with and address the whole school, so as to improve upon existing skills such as Public Speaking.


2 POLICY STATEMENT
All Students at SBS will participate in Assemblies and Bal Sabhas that will be held in the academic year on various themes to provide a platform for the students to learn and express.
3 PROCESS
3.1 Objectives

o Help students nurture existing latent skills by providing opportunities for their utilization such as Public Speaking, etc.

o Help students learn values of group work, sense of responsibility, etc.

o Boost students’ self-worth and confidence by making them take part of various stages involved in the preparation of assemblies.

o Create opportunities (assembly charts) for all students to participate in the assembly at least once in the academic session
o Give opportunities to students to face the challenges of the Planning and Organizing stage required before all assemblies.

o Foster a spirit of leadership, Co-operation, mutual understanding tolerance and self-reliance.

4. GUIDELINES
The Assemblies and Bal Sabhas are a tool that would be used for sharpening existing latent skills of the students. This is one such opportunity where various skills required by a student to address a large group on a given theme, are evaluated, identified and nurtured.
Assembly Calendar: At the beginning of every academic year a calendar would be formed where all classes, houses and daily will be allocated respective dates. These will support the theme allocation process.
Double shift assemblies: This process would be followed in both the shifts running in the school.
Frequency of Bal Sabhas: The Bal Sabhas will be held every Saturday and will be the responsibilities of the Houses.
Frequency of Class Assemblies: The Daily Assemblies shall be hosted by Classes on rotational basis (Assembly Chart Designing)
Whole School Assemblies: The whole school will meet in assembly on everyday of the week.
Weekday Assemblies: All Daily Assemblies will be hosted by the Classes on rotational basis. There would be presentations/performances by the students on Tuesdays and Thursdays on selected themes
Saturday Bal Sabha: will be hosted by the Houses on rotational basis, every week. This way all 4 houses will get a chance to present before the whole school.
















A. Daily Assembly
1. Assembly Schedule
a. Prayer/Choir (5minutes)
The School Assembly will be opened with Prayer/songs by the school music group (*music committee)
b. Announcement for the Day (5minutes)
The Head Teacher shall make the required announcements for the day at the Assembly.
c. Thought for the Day (5mintues/At the end of Assemble)
A student will be responsible for reading out the thought for the day. (On rotational basis)
d. Uniform Check(Before or during Assembly)
During the Assembly, Class Prefects will check individual students’ uniform cleanliness and maintenance
e. Hygiene Check (Before or during Assembly)
During the Assembly, Class Prefects will also check personal hygiene levels of the students-length of nails, bathing and toothbrush regime following, etc.
Daily Assemblies will be hosted by students from classes from III to V in the first session and followed by the junior classes in the second session.
Class Assemblies:
o Classes will host the Daily Assemblies, and give a Class Presentation every Tuesday and Thursday
o Content of Class Assembly to be Hosted
i. The theme of the assemblies would be set by the Trainer and Teacher on the basis of the part of curriculum being followed at the time.
ii. Theme will be allocated a fortnight before the day for presentation
iii. Content generation and preparation for the assemblies will be conducted shall be done on the Saturdays prior to the assembly.
iv. Students are responsible to prepare themselves for the assembly with assistance of the Class Teacher.

o Class Participation
i. Compeer/s: will be selected for Hosting the Assembly
ii. Participating Members: will involve those students who are working for content generation, props preparation, presentation, etc.
iii. Volunteers: will involve (responsible for props, logistics, etc??)

o Faculty Responsible
i. Class Teacher and Trainer are responsible for the Theme allocation
ii. Class Teacher is going to be responsible for the preparation of the students
iii. Head Teacher is responsible for the weekly assembly

B. Bal Sabha
Bal Sabha Schedule
i. Prayer/Choir (5minutes)

During the Assembly, Class Prefects will check individual students’ uniform cleanliness and maintenance
iii. Hygiene Check (Alongside assembly)

iv. Tooth Brushing Session (5 minutes)
The students are provided with tooth brushes in school, hence, before or after the Bal Sabha the students would be supervised to ensure dental hygiene.
v. PT Drill (5minutes)
Before the Assembly starts or after choir/prayer song, the Guardian will conduct PT Drill with the students to instill discipline.
vi. Class/House Assembly Presentation (15minutes)
The Class Assembly will be held by the designated class for the day. The session will be opened and closed by the selected Compeer in the mentioned time limit.
vii. Announcements for the Week (5-10minutes)
a. Felicitations (Competition results, etc.)

3. House Bal Sabha
o Content of Bal Sabha to be Hosted
i. Theme of the assembly to be decided upon by House Captains/Prefects in consultation with House Teachers/Masters and Trainers
ii. Theme will be decided upon and allocated a fortnight prior to the scheduled assembly.
iii. The preparation for the assembly will be done on the Saturday prior to the allotted day.
iv. The preparations will be done by the Students in consultation with the House Captains/Prefect and House Teacher/Master.House

o Faculty Responsible
i. House Teacher/Master and Trainer are responsible for the Theme allocation and supervision of the preparation process
ii. House Teacher/Master assisted by House Captain/Prefect are responsible for the preparation of the students
iii. Head Teacher is responsible for the weekly Assembly




o Participating Members

To standardize guidelines for involving the community members and its resources in making the concept of Satya Bharti Schools a holistic and all inclusive project.

All Students at SBS will participate in community service that will be held during the academic year on various themes to provide a platform for the students to learn and express.

B. Community Participation

Options mentioned below may be shared with community to encourage them to volunteer. Please note that the list is not exhaustive.

a) Teach local crafts (i.e. puppet making, certain styles of painting, weaving, etc.)

C. Community Service
o Community Visits by students
The Community Service sessions are a tool that would be used for sharpening existing latent skills of the students. This is one such opportunity where a students’ skill in interaction and communication, are evaluated, identified and nurtured.
Double Shift Community Service: This process would be followed in both the shifts running in the school.
Frequency of Community Service: The community visits will be held every Saturday and will be the responsibilities of the Classes.

Community Visit
1. Community Visit Schedule
o Interaction with pre-decided target group (e.g. for ‘Healthy living’ session-women, for ‘quit smoking’ session-men, etc.)
o Theme allocation for the community service will be done on the basis of the theme being followed in the curriculum that week/month. The theme allocation will be determined and allocated in one go, when the community service schedule is finalized.
o Awareness Generation Material preparation will be held one Saturday prior/during the week based upon the theme decided. This will include data that will be disseminated to the people in the community.
o Preparation for the sessions will also include preparation of various modes of communication-posters, flash cards, etc.
o Various modes of communication can be utilized by the students to interact with the community members. Some of them are as follows:
§ Skits/Street Plays
§ Dance & Music
§ Puppet shows
§ Material-posters, flash cards, etc.
2. Student Participation
o Community service will include all the classes from Standard I to V
o The sessions can also be conducted by the students.
o A session will be conducted by the identified students and a teacher responsible.
o The whole class will participate in preparation and presentation for the session

3. Faculty Responsible
o Class Teacher is responsible for the preparation of the students
o Head Teacher is the person responsible for the community service program in the school, in coordination with the School Administrator
o Head Teacher, School Coordinator and Trainer are responsible for the one-time Theme allocation and Community Service Chart designing
o School Coordinator and Head Teacher are responsible for the documentation of the material generated for the sessions
4. Documentation
o Material Generated for the theme based Community Service sessions
o Documentation of the material generated will be stored in the Library for further reference by all students and faculty
o Photographs to be documented

e) The event would be organized at the school grounds; hence, the required arrangements would be required for the congregation- depending on the level at which it would be performed-
f) Special Refreshments would be provided to all. Festival specific delicacies would be included
g) The parents of the students and community would be made aware of the event and participation of entire community to be encouraged
h) The theme/festival of the month/week would to be included as part of classroom interactions with children
i) National level events and their importance to be included as a part of curriculum



Inter School Level Events:

Activities for Celebration:
a) A State level event will be organized to provide a platform for all districts to interact.
b) Intra-School competitions will be held prior to the event, as a run up and the winners would be the school representatives. The 4-5 activities in which they can participate in can be selected from the following:

c) There would be various Inter-School competitions organized on the event day,.
d) The venue of the event would have to be identified in advance and be prepared one day in advance for coordination.
e) Logistic support will be organized for the event by the State Coordinator in coordination with the Gurgaon office.
f) A Chief Guest would be identified for the event
g) An investiture ceremony will be organized at the end of the day.
h) Felicitations of all Student Awards, titles, etc would also be conferred at the investiture ceremony
i) Community attendance and participation to be encouraged
j) Volunteers from community to be identified for logistical planning and help
k) Refreshment would be provided to all the participants and visitors.
